About the performance:
First, let us describe one of Balthus’ paintings Cat of the Mediterranean. A man with a cat face man is sitting at a lunch table: a fish on the plate. He is eating the fish. Behind him, a rainbow is “fishing”, fish landing on the man’s plate, or the rainbow dissolves in the fish: both solutions could be right.
In the sea, there is a girl, Bataille’s daughter and Balthus’ lover to be. She is on a tiny boat, which is going away and the girl is waving not the cat man, but to an outside character. The boat is sailing towards the rainbow and it is supposed that it will be going to follow the rainbow, landing on the plate.
The performance took part at the XIII Biennial of the Young Artists from the Europe and the Mediterranean, Puglia 2008.
