(2007)

About the performance:

When the audience enters, a woman is sitting at the back wall of the stage, happy to see all these people, in curious expectation about what is going to happen. After a while she realises that everybody came because of her, that she is the one who has to show something. Fear starts to rise in her at the same time as her desire to entertain and her wish to please the audience. All her tries seem ridiculous to her, she wants to hide, to disappear completely... Until she comes to the conclusion that she does not give a damn about the others, that she just follows her intuition and the impulse of the moment. Even then, a strange taste of absurd sadness stays.

In this piece about the fight against personal and common fears and insecurities, the performer attracts the audience with a lot of humour and self-irony into a touching journey through a woman’s inner life, in which it is easy to find him/herself as a spectator. Her movement language is poetic, comical and sensitive, opening again and again the unexpected.

About the authors:

Franziska Adensamer (Austria) studied music and movement pedagogy at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. After graduating in 2006, she started to study mime (physical theatre) at the Theaterschool in Amsterdam. She is involved in different art projects as a performer and as a maker. In all of her projects, she is looking for experimental forms and original ways of performing and combining music, theatre and dance. She is interested in performance art, which creates an intense experience in the sense that it involves the spectators, touches them and raises questions.
