BOJANA KUNST
Artistic process, Artwork

(dramaturgy workshop)

About the workshop:

The renowned Portuguese dramaturge André Lepecki answers to the question “what is dramaturgy” as follows: I know what I am doing, but I do not know how to call it. The suspense and the predicament of saying in only one word what a dramaturge does or what dramaturgy is, illustrates the elusiveness of dramaturgical work, its fluidity and instability. Namely, dramaturgical work is enacted precisely through the art process and thus includes a number of not very easily recognizable traits, which transform the goings-on in rehearsal spaces. If we agree that every artwork is public, then it cannot be separated from the meanings it produces. Today, every artwork emerges within a network of intertwined artistic, social and political contexts. At the same time, the artwork is also closely connected with the processes of corporeality, perception and affects. Dramaturgy can thus be described as the central point of these processes, which is, on one hand, connected with erudition and theoretic proficiency, on the other, it is in close connection with the artwork itself.

The workshop will be divided into two parts. The first will include viewing of several performances, through which the approaches to contemporary dramaturgy will be analyzed. The second part will be devoted to dramaturgy in contemporary dance. The workshop will be practically oriented; participants will be actively included with their contributions and analyses. Artists, theoreticians and writers are warmly welcome.
